Relief & Response
When Hurricane Melissa struck, we joined partners in Charlotte to deliver close to $20,000 in diapers, baby formula, feminine products, and tarps. Our food drive fed families facing hunger across the Triad, and we continue to support the Salvation Army Hanbury Children's Home in Mandeville, Jamaica.
Welcome & Settlement
For years, we have helped newly arriving teachers and families settle into life across the Triad by providing furniture, appliances, and home essentials. We connect new arrivals with resources and people, serving as a welcoming hub so they can get acquainted with Greensboro and American culture more broadly.
Education & Scholarships
Through our scholarship dinners we have funded Jamaican students entering four year colleges and covered school fees for those already enrolled. We run Summer Math and Reading programs with NC A&T State University at Shortwood Teachers' College in Jamaica, gave winter coats to immigrant and refugee families at FaithAction International House, and proudly marched in NC A&T's Homecoming parade.
Culture & Fellowship
We bring the community together throughout the year with events that celebrate fellowship, family, and connection. From our annual Father's Day Cookout and Independence Day Cookout to our Banquets, Games Night, and Christmas Social, each gathering is an opportunity to enjoy good food, music, laughter, and meaningful fellowship. These events help strengthen then bonds within our community and keep us connected.
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
A Word From Our President
My name is Uzama Price, and I was honored to be elected board president in April 2023. Our five-year plan focuses on more inclusive membership, increased funding, active community engagement, and scholarships that make a real difference.
As a community, we help newly arriving teachers and families from Jamaica settle in, purchasing furniture, bedding, household items, and back-to-school supplies, and helping them navigate the city, county, and state. In 2024, we linked people to resources for their basic needs, offered transportation and job-placement help, and awarded scholarships to students of Jamaican heritage.
When you attend our events and support this association, you contribute directly to our charitable causes. We are excited about the future, and we hope you will join us.

Canned Food Drive
As the holiday spirit fills the air, we remember that not everyone has a full plate. In partnership with Urban Ministries, we are collecting non-perishable food items across the Triad to help families facing hunger this season. Drop off at Island Fest Jamaican Restaurant, Solutions Accounting, or Flow Motors of Winston-Salem.

Aid for Jamaica
In partnership with NC A&T State University and the MIAL Foundation, we are collecting essential supplies for those affected by Hurricane Melissa. Feminine hygiene products, baby wipes, toothpaste, soap, washcloths, and first aid supplies help restore hope and dignity. Drop off at Burlington Coat Factory, Greensboro, on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
